Administrative Assistant/Deputy City Clerk

JOB: Performs a variety of administrative support duties to the City Manager in support of City programs including maintenance of official records; liaison between City Hall and the public; coordinate assigned activities with other City departments, outside agencies and the public; and provide highly responsible and administrative support to the City Manager and members of the City Council as well as perform other related administrative duties as required.

EXPERIENCE: Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills outlined above is equivalent to completion of two years of college or possession of an Associate of Arts degree with major coursework in office administration, public administration, or a closely related field and/or three years of office administrative experience involving public contact. Practical experience in the field of public administration is essential.

 32-40 Hours/Week – $22.93 – 27.87/Hour – Plus Benefit Package

Under general supervision, receive invoices, enters invoice data into computer, schedules payment for invoices; receives checks and other deposits, prepares deposits and take to bank to deposit; generates monthly transaction reports; assists City Manager with budget preparation; and performs other duties as required.

Applicants should possess at least two years of either technical school or college education in the area of bookkeeping; possess preferably three years of work experience utilizing QuickBooks for accounts receivable and accounts payable; any combination of education and experience which provides the qualifications listed above will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants with governmental accounting experience.

The City of Point Arena seeks a Harbor Operations Technician I

Under direct or general supervision, the position performs a variety of semi-skilled work in the construction, modification, maintenance, repair and operation of the City’s Harbor, Pier and related waterfront facilities and systems; provides assistance in the overall Harbor and Pier operations, including customer services activities related to facilities rentals, usage, boat berth assignments, fees intake, and contract monitoring; and performs related work as required

This is the entry-level class in the public harbor and pier operations series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents with basic maintenance experience learn Harbor and Pier facilities, systems, and related infrastructure, use of tools and equipment, and a wide variety of practices and procedures. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence.

This class is alternately-staffed with Harbor and Pier Operations Technician II and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining the knowledge, skill, experience, licenses and certifications which meet the qualifications for and demonstrating the ability to perform the work of the higher-level class.

Notice to Contractors

The City of Point Arena will accept sealed bids for the Riverside Drive & Windy Hollow Road Improvements Project, #2019-01, by or before June 26, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., at the Point Arena City Hall, located at 451 School Street, Point Arena, California 95468, at which time the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.

Project Description

The City proposes to perform roadway improvements along approximately 1,100 feet of Riverside Drive and approximately 175 feet of Windy Hollow Road. Proposed work on Riverside Drive consists of the removal and disposal of deteriorating asphalt concrete (AC) paving, placement of new AC paving and overlay, and improvements to existing drainage facilities, including the installation of a new storm drain inlet. Proposed improvements along Windy Hollow Road include the removal and disposal of deteriorating AC paving, placement of new AC paving, and the installation of two 6-inch sub drains.

An Add Alternate consisting of 30,000 square feet of AC paving overlay on Eureka Hill Road.

Engineer’s Opinion of Probable Cost for Base Bid: $233,395

Engineer’s Opinion of Probable Cost for Add Alternate: $110,000

An electronic copy of the Plans and Contract Documents for the Project may be obtained at City Hall for a fifty dollar ($50) non-refundable charge for each thumb drive. They are also posted on the local Builders Exchange websites.

All Contractors and Subcontractors shall possess appropriate Contractor’s Licenses for their trades at the time the contract is awarded.

Each Bid Proposal, along with any required supporting bid materials, shall be submitted in a sealed envelope bearing the title of the work, “Riverside Drive & Windy Hollow Road Improvements, City of Point Arena Project No. 2019-01” and the name of the bidder.

The City of Point Arena reserves the right to reject any or all bids.

This is a prevailing wage contract.

• Flexible hours and schedule of 2 to 4 days a week largely based on the needs of the applicant;
• A pay range of $27.78 – $36.20 per hour, depending on experience;
• Benefits, including health care, vacation and sick pay, beginning at 20 hours per week;
• Point Arena provides a Simple IRA retirement plan. The City of Point Arena is not a CalPERS agency, so retired waste treatment operators may work without affecting their retirement payments.
