ABOUT THE CITY COUNCIL
Point Arena has a Council-Manager form of government. Five Council members are elected at large to serve four year terms. Elections take place on the first Tuesday in November during even-numbered years. Each year, the Council selects one member to serve as mayor. The Mayor presides at Council meetings and has ceremonial responsibilities, in addition to his or her other Council duties.
The regular meetings of the City Council are a vital part of the democratic process in the conduct of the City’s affairs. It is at Council meetings that laws, policies and basic decisions are made for the government of Point Arena.
All meetings of the City Council are open to the public and citizens are encouraged to attend to have their voices heard on key issues as well as learn more about how the City operates.
The Point Arena City Council meets the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall located at 451 School Street. Special meetings may be scheduled with 72 hours advance notice.
City Council Agendas are posted at least 72 hours in advance of any Council meeting. Generally, the Agenda is posted on the website by 5:00 p.m. Friday prior to the Tuesday meeting. Copies of the agenda, supporting documentation and staff reports can also be picked up at City Hall.
