The City of Point Arena partners with Redwood Waste Solutions for its recycling and waste collection services. Recycling is provided at no additional cost to all customers with garbage service in the area. Local residents can take advantage of curbside waste and recycling pickup every Friday morning.

Additionally, Point Arena features a central recycling drop-off point at Arena Cove, located at the end of Port Road, where Redwood Waste Solutions handles collections. For used oil disposal, a dedicated facility is available at 30 Port Road.

Contact City Hall, 707.882.2122, if you have any further questions or wish to report public hazards related to waste disposal or recycling.

Point Arena residents have several options for  recycling:

Curbside Service

Residents can sign up for convenient curbside garbage and recycling services through Redwood Waste Solutions, which provides weekly pickups every Friday in Point Arena. While Recology supplies a recycling collection container, customers must provide their own container for trash. The weekly recycling program is included in the garbage service fee. For rates and further details, please contact customer service at 800-243-0291.

Commercial establishments are also eligible for Recology’s weekly garbage and recycling services. Businesses can select from 2, 3, 4, or 6-yard bins, all serviced once a week on Fridays. If your business generates minimal waste, you may opt for can service, but you’ll need to supply your own collection can. The weekly recycling pickup is included in the garbage service fee.

Arena Cove Recycling Facility

Residents can also self-haul their recyclable materials to Arena Cove, a Recology-serviced location that accepts the same items as the curbside recycling service.

South Coast Transfer Station

Point Arena residents can also self-haul their solid waste and recyclables to the South Coast Transfer Station (SCTS), operated by Solid Waste of Willits.

Mandatory Commercial Recycling

State recycling regulations require that all businesses generating at least four (4) cubic yards of garbage per week and all multi-family complexes with at least 5 units are required to recycle. This new requirement became effective July 1, 2012.

CalRecycle estimates that two thirds of landfill waste is generated by the commercial sector, including businesses, schools and apartment complexes. Promoting commercial recycling helps keep recyclable materials out of landfills which conserves resources, extends the life of landfills and reduces the potential generation of greenhouse gases.

Mandatory Commercial Organics Recycling

State law requires California commercial business to recycle organic material, like yard waste, food waste and food soiled paper. The organics law requires certain businesses and multifamily complexes to arrange for organic waste recycling services. Visit Mandatory Commercial Organics Recycling for more information.
