ABOUT THE CITY COUNCIL
City Council meetings are essential to governing Point Arena. Councilmembers deliberate on issues impacting the community, fostering transparency, accountability, and civic engagement to ensure residents’ needs and interests are addressed.
Point Arena operates under a Council-Manager system. Five Council members are elected at large to serve four-year terms, and the City Manager is appointed by the Council. Elections occur on the first Tuesday of November in even-numbered years. After each election, the Council selects one member to serve as mayor, who presides over meetings and carries out ceremonial duties alongside regular Council responsibilities.
City Council agendas are posted at least 72 hours before each meeting, or by 5 p.m. the Friday prior to a Tuesday meeting. Agendas are available on the City website, sent by email, and posted at City Hall, the U.S. Post Office, and the Coast Community Library.
Supporting documents and staff reports can be accessed on the City website. They may also be requested by phone at 707-882-2122, via email at admin@pointarena.ca.gov, or picked up in person at City Hall, 451 School Street.
