Planning & Permitting

PLANNING

The City of Point Arena’s planning procedures are handled by City Planner Scott Perkins. Scott will take calls, make appointments for on-site visits and accept all email messages from his office.   Contact Scott at (707) 354-0145; or planning@pointarena.ca.gov.

BUILDING

The City of Point Arena’s building procedures are handled by the County of Mendocino Planning & Building Department. Before applying for a building permit from the County, however, property owners or contractors must begin the process at Point Arena City Hall. This helps ensure that proposed building plans are compatible with the Point Arena Municipal Code. Once approved by the City, building permits are secured with the County.

SIGNS

Signs generally require a permit. Please see the Point Arena Municipal Code Section 18.25.290 for requirements.

BUSINESS LICENSES

Businesses, including sole proprietorship, operating within the Point Arena city limits are required to have a business license. Please see Point Arena Municipal Code Section 5.05 for more information.
